Project TriStar is a private non-profit organization and as such, all contributions go directly to the Project TriStar Community Development.

The Project TriStar community is a vast undertaking that requires considerable monetary, physical, and intellectual resources.  As a co-creative endeavor, founded on the principles of cooperation and selfless actions, Project TriStar understands that a significant financial commitment is required to complete the community development.

How much does it cost to join the Project TriStar community?

Project TriStar does not require a specific or defined financial contribution from an applicant or member of the community and understands this approach is unique among similar community projects.  It is, however, an approach that Project TriStar feels is necessary in order to create a culturally diverse spiritual community that provides an equal opportunity to the greatest number of people.

How is Project TriStar financed?

The primary source of financing for the community comes from member contributions and non-member humanitarian donations.  Although individual members of the community are not required to contribute financially, Project TriStar encourages each member to contribute as much as they can within their unique circumstance.

Among other things, applicants are selected for their understanding of the coming global events that will dramatically change the world we live in; for their belief of living in service for the greatest good; and for their sincere desire and choice to live a more harmonic and natural lifestyle.  Community members are those who have come to a realization that material wealth, as well as all material possessions are provided for a reason and that parting with such possessions for a worthy cause is a joy rather than a hardship.

As such, those community members who do have access to financial resources openly and freely contribute whatever they can for the greatest good of the community and not simply to reserve their place within the community.

Project TriStar also receives contributions from non-member humanitarian donors for the same reasons.  These are individuals and organizations that have chosen to help others in their pursuit of a worthy cause.  This type of contribution may come in the form of financial donations, equipment, products, services, or other intellectual resources that are used to complete the community development.

Besides financial contributions, all community members participate in the community planning, development, and operations as their background, skills, and knowledge provide.  This participation may include: project management, research, planning, and construction or manual labor.

Why isn’t every member required to contribute financially?

Creating cultural diversity in any community means bringing people together from different backgrounds, with different skills, and different means.  Project TriStar understands that individual circumstances and lifestyle choices might limit an applicant’s financial status, but also understands the bigger picture that every community member is unique and important to the whole.

Project TriStar is one of the few communities that does not require financial contributions on a per member basis, but rather operates on the concept that those who can contribute will do so willingly, graciously, and to their greatest extent possible.

Project TriStar is co-creating something quite unique among sustainable communities that are preparing for the coming global changes.  Those who contribute to this endeavor understand that Project TriStar provides a unique and possibly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for members to live in an environment that serves the greatest good of humanity.  As such, all financial contributors must consider and evaluate their choices and alternative uses for their financial resources.

What does a member or non-member receive for their financial contribution?

The Project TriStar community is founded on universal principles and some very core spiritual understandings.  Some of these understandings include: the law of cause and effect, the law of equal and opposite forces, and the law of attraction.  As such, Project TriStar operates with the understanding that expectation and anticipation of receiving from any actions of giving are emotions that do not serve the individual, the community, or the greatest good.

When members or non-members do make a financial contribution to Project TriStar they are not buying something per se except possibly a sense that they have done something good and noble.  When an applicant is approved as a community member and chooses to contribute financially, they are helping to ensure their own sustainability, as well as that of the entire community.  With that said, Project TriStar does not accept a member or non-member financial contribution for the sole purpose of buying their membership into the community.

Project TriStar makes no promise or guaranteed that any form of physical or monitory remuneration will be received by those who contribute.  Project TriStar does offer the opportunity for large donors of money, equipment, and services to be prominently listed in all related literature and material used to promote the Project TriStar Community, Global Initiative, and sustainable community development.  Such literature is distributed at Project TriStar speaking engagements and posted through the websites.

Project TriStar hopes that contributions to this community endeavor are done with a clear intent and clear understanding that this is not an investment for the purpose of financial gain or profit, but rather for the greatest good of humanity.  It is further our hope that every contributor or donor to Project TriStar does so with an open heart, open mind, and with the ability to receive their remuneration through the pure act of compassion and giving.

How does Project TriStar ensure that members do not abuse this generous financial policy?

Just because Project TriStar doesn’t require individual financial participation doesn’t mean that membership in the community is easy.  In fact, membership in the Project TriStar Community is likely to be even more challenging because it is based on a wide range of considerations.

When considering an applicant for membership in the community, Project TriStar looks at every aspect of a person’s life and lifestyle.  These considerations include, but are not limited to:  honesty, integrity, spirituality, and a general ability to live life in a remote, off-the-grid, and subterranean community environment.  Project TriStar is not looking for perfection in an applicant, but rather for the potential that an applicant has to become a balanced, supportive, and active participant in the community.

The community’s remote, off-the-grid, self-sustainable environment, founded on natural and universal laws, will likely be a challenge for most people.  For an analogy, consider how many people could live on a submarine and then add the ability to achieve 100% self-sustainability through renewable energy sources.  It’s no surprise that the community environment may be considered extreme even by many people who are seeking community.  As such, it takes people with a unique set of beliefs and conscious attitude to adjust and be comfortable in such a community environment.

The selection process takes into account everything about an applicant before a decision of acceptance is made.  Most importantly are the applicant's ability to live in such an environment, the reason they want to join, their ability to communicate in a consciously responsible fashion, their fears, and much more.

Who owns the assets that are purchased on behalf of the Project TriStar community?

As a non-profit and humanitarian endeavor, Project TriStar is only interested in ownership as it is necessary to facilitate a move from the materialistic and economically driven world to the naturalistic and spiritual world of the community.  Project TriStar understands that securing land, building materials, supplies, and resources are responsibilities that ensure the community longevity and sustainability.

Project TriStar is and operates as a corporation and all purchases are made by the corporation for the benefit of the community members.  The corporation is managed by a Board of Directors along with a Management Team and approx. 200 other committee members.

In order to ensure that all community members are treated with equal respect and responsibility, and without favoritism, all assets purchased on behalf of the community are held in trust by the corporation.

First and foremost, Project TriStar operates as a corporation and applies the same guidelines, processes, and procedures of any professional organization. As such, Project TriStar has a Board of Directors, oversight management team, financial management team, and subsystem management teams that are responsible and accountable for the entire development and operation of the community development.

In order to achieve this level of accountability and management for an organization and community of this size, which is also based on spiritual principles and universal laws, Project TriStar has established a series of committees that operate as management teams. The development and subsystem committees report to the management committee who works hand-in-hand with the financial committee. The management and financial committees, in turn, report directly to the Project TriStar Board of Directors.

No matter how large or small a project, the key to it's overall success lies in the hands of how the project is managed.

Project TriStar understands that management and leadership are not talents that can be given to any individual.  They must be earned through years of education, experience, and developed natural talent.  From there, success is further accented by the character, balance, and intelligence of those who are placed in management roles.  These character traits determine how a person applies their management and leadership skills.

In other words, there are many different types of leaders in the world.  Some lead people into battle and achieve success through brute force methods.  Others lead people on field trips and outings to educate, enhance, and enrich their lives.  And still others visualize and pursue paths that inspire and motivate people around the world.

From one extreme to the other, success is achieved based on a combination of skill sets and the character necessary to manage and lead such projects.  However, this does not mean that one leader could exchange roles with another and be equally as effective or successful.

So, how does Project TriStar choose managers and leaders to achieve success on such an evolutionary community endeavor?

Very simply...  By the universal law of attraction.

Project TriStar understands that the effectiveness and success of any endeavor depends on the viability of the plan itself, the ability to articulate that plan to others, and the ability of others to grasp the plan and move it forward.  As such, this website provides the basis to fulfill the first two of these requirements.

The third step relies on the abilities of others to see and understand the plan.  By providing the community plan in an open format such as the internet, through videos, DVD's, and books, Project TriStar is broadcasting to everyone who is listening.  Those who hear and resonate with the message ultimately come forward and inquire about participation.

From there it becomes a process of evaluation by the Project TriStar Membership Committee.  The Membership Committee reviews the applicant information, interviews the applicant, and performs any background and reference checks necessary. The committee then determines how and where a personals skills and character best support the community and overall project.

Those community members who possess the necessary leadership capabilities are given the opportunity to become committee members and participate in the community planning, development, and management.  To date, this process has proven extremely effective as Project TriStar has attracted talented and balanced leaders from around the world, from a variety of skill sets, and all walks of life.

The Project TriStar leadership model utilizes committees to define, implement, and moderate every function of the community.  Besides, community planning, development, and construction, the committees are responsible for establishing all curriculum, protocols, and procedures of the community operation and lifestyle.  Each committee has between five and twenty members working to co-create a cohesive bond between the community subsystems and the members.

As a community founded on the principals of co-creative manifestation by the committee members, management team, and the entire community, there is no individual that maintains a title of leader.  The nature of co-creation is that every person is a leader and provides something of importance to the whole.

As community founder and visionary, Ivan Stein is an active member of the leadership team that is responsible for the community conceptual design, management selection and organization, oversight of all aspects of the planning and development, and coordination of committee activities. There is a clear understanding between the entire management team of the importance for planning, construction and operation of the community through the cooperative and co-creative leadership of the committee members.

Financial Management

First and foremost, Project TriStar operates as a corporation and applies the same guidelines, processes, and procedures of any professional organization. As such, Project TriStar has a Board of Directors, oversight management team, financial management team, and subsystem management teams that are responsible and accountable for the entire development and operation of the community development.

Financial management of the Project TriStar community project, as with any business venture, is at the heart of our success. Anyone who's been around the business world knows that most failures come at the hands of poor financial planning and management and the larger the venture, the greater the risk for possible error or miscalculation.

Project TriStar understands there is no room for error when it comes to managing the finances for such a project. To ensure this, Project TriStar has established a financial committee that works hand-in-hand with the management committee. The management and financial committees, in turn, report directly to the Project TriStar Board of Directors.

As with all Project TriStar committees, the financial committee members have been hand-picked from those members who have applied and been accepted into the community. These members must have a proven background in finance, as well as the desire and ability to participate at the committee level.

In order to ensure responsibility, Project TriStar has established various protocols including; budget projections, budget approval, and multiple signature check signing. These methods of fiscal management ensure that all financial matters are reviewed and confirmed by multiple levels of management before being implemented.

Overview

The Project TriStar headquarters is a sustainable community, however, as a headquarters for the ongoing development and construction planning, this facility is not a completely off-the-grid and self-sustainable environment.

The Project TriStar headquarters is a necessary step in the coordination of efforts to define and document the details for developing communities based on the Project TriStar model.  Participation in this community is intended for those members who are ready, willing, and able to devote their time and energy to the Project TriStar Vision and Mission.  As such, participation at this facility is reserved for those members who have expressed the interest and have the necessary skills for committee level activities.

This is a location where committee members live, work, and grow together in a communal and sustainable environment while creating the necessary documents and plans for both the Project TriStar community model and Global Initiative.  As part of our multimedia campaign, all activities within this community are being video taped for use in promotional media, a general introduction to the concept of sustainable communities, and as a pilot for a Reality TV show based on sustainable living.

On-The-Grid

In order to support the ongoing research, coordination, and development of the Project TriStar 100% off-the-grid and self-sustainable model, this headquarters maintains access to technological conveniences as necessary.  This includes the use of grid electricity, internet access, and other modern conveniences that provide access to the resources and tools to support planning and development operations.

Grid access is also necessary for the coordination and management of multimedia activities including: contact with our global membership, maintenance of websites and video portals, receipt and processing of membership applications, discussions and interviews with other media networks, and video conferencing.

Membership

The Project TriStar headquarters is designed as a temporary location where community members can participate in the ongoing efforts of the Project TriStar Vision and Mission.  As such, member participation may be limited by available space, resources, and practicality.

As the headquarters for Project TriStar operations, membership is reserved for those who are ready to make the commitment to committee level participation.  The committee members are those who are ready, willing, and able to devote their time and energy to the Project TriStar Vision and Mission.  In addition to a desire to be part of the Project TriStar development and management team, these members must possess skills and expertise that relate to the activities of the Committee List.

Besides the basic life and lifestyle principals, applicants to the Project TriStar headquarters community are also evaluated on their ability to function as part of the management team and as a committee member.  This evaluation includes technical skill assessment, management responsibility, and interpersonal communication.

Candidates must be prepared to devote their time to Project TriStar as they would any other job.  In other words, being part of the Project TriStar headquarters community is a full-time commitment involving daily activities and responsibilities, as well as free time and space for personal and community activities.

Members are not required to participate financially as every basic necessity is provided by the community.  Members will have no need to retain or maintain work or an income outside the community and members do not receive any financial compensation for their work or commitment to the community activities.  Each member understands that this is a voluntary and at will opportunity.

To apply for membership in Project TriStar and/or for participation in the Utah headquarters community, please complete a Membership Application.

Video Documentary

The practice of sustainability and especially as it relates to the creation of conscious sustainable communities is still in its relative infancy.  In an effort to increase global and mainstream awareness, Project TriStar has taken on the task to video document all activities of the headquarters community.

The proposed uses for this video footage include the following applications:

  • Video archive of Project TriStar
  • Documentary on the process of creating sustainability
  • Live streaming to the internet
  • Creation of promotional and introductory videos
  • Education for personal interaction and problem resolution
  • The pilot for a Reality TV Show based on sustainability

This may include the use of stationary cameras positioned throughout the facility and the use of handheld cameras to record specific incidents and activities of the committee members.  It also includes an onsite multimedia staff that is responsible for filming, editing, and uploading video footage to the internet and other media portals.  Depending on schedules and resources, some community members may be asked to operate a video camera from time-to-time as needed.

Those interested in applying and participating in the Project TriStar headquarters community in Utah must sign a waiver for their participation in the video documentary.

Diet

Besides the business activities, the Project TriStar headquarters operates as a model for community and sustainable lifestyle.  As founding members of Project TriStar, those who participate at this committee level do not have the luxury of going through the proposed Member Orientation Program.

Project TriStar is aware that some members may still be working on health and dietary challenges that preclude an all raw vegan diet.  As such, it’s expected that some members may still be working on their individual preparations to become more sustainable and ultimately self-sustainable.  In order to accommodate all members through their personal and mutual sustainability challenges, the Project TriStar headquarters maintains a more liberal dietary regiment.

Although the eventual goal is to achieve and maintain an exclusive raw vegan diet, this goal can only be achieved by creating a dietary plan that results in providing adequate nutrition for every community member.  One of the most important factors in such a diet is to provide adequate enzymes and protein to support optimal health.  This includes taking into account that some individuals may have dietary sensitivities that include the inability to eat nuts or other known sources of protein in the raw vegan diet.

While the committee members work out the details of a raw vegan menu and diet that accommodates every member, the community maintains access to some animal products as a source of protein.  The initial consideration is to maintain chickens for a source of meat and eggs.  The intent is to maintain a diet that is primarily raw vegan until a diet consisting entirely of raw vegan has been established.

Activities

The Project TriStar headquarters is operated as a business and a community.  Activities of the business include everything necessary to transform the Project TriStar community model from a visionary idea to a well documented plan that can be developed and constructed.  Activities of the community follow as close as possible to the Project TriStar Lifestyle Model.  This includes functioning as a conscious sustainable community in all activities.

Just as there are work assignments and responsibilities for the business and community activities, time is also set aside for daily spiritual activities, education, exercise, and introspection.  In essence, the activities of the Project TriStar headquarters provide the foundation for further developing the Project TriStar Lifestyle Model and Member Orientation Program.

This means that, as a conscious sustainable community, the Project TriStar headquarters embodies the core principals of the community model with the intent of further documenting and working through the rough edges to create a truly functional plan.  Of course, the primary and life sustaining activities related to food production are being addressed first.

To understand the goals of the Project TriStar headquarters, here is a list of areas and activities of the community model to be further researched and documented.

This overview has been prepared with the intent to give an understanding of the development process for the Project TriStar community. It is important to note that this is an overview and not intended to be an exact representation of the community, but rather a conceptual representation of the overall plan.  The actual construction and operation of this project is being managed through the co-creative efforts of all those who are participating in the community planning and development.

This overview is divided into three phases;

Phase I: Management

Phase II: Planning

Phase III: Development

First and foremost, Project TriStar operates as a corporation and applies the same guidelines, processes, and procedures of any professional organization. As such, Project TriStar has a Board of Directors, oversight management team, financial management team, and subsystem management teams that are responsible and accountable for the entire development and operation of the community development.

In order to achieve this level of accountability and management for an organization and community of this size, which is also based on spiritual principles and universal laws, Project TriStar has established a series of committees that operate as management teams. The development and subsystem committees report to the management committee who work hand-in-hand with the financial committee. The management and financial committees, in turn, report directly to the Project TriStar Board of Directors.

It is important to note that the Project TriStar community development and all structural facilities are designed and managed with the greatest care, concern, and safety of all community members. This means that all structures conform to safety standards and are designed with engineering support to ensure they are safe and habitable.

Phase I: Management

As business and life dictate, the success of any project can be summed up by a single word "leadership". In the case of Project TriStar, the term "leadership" includes more than the abilities of organization, coordination, responsibility, and problem solving.  Due to the nature of the Project TriStar community, the term "leadership" also includes teamwork, clarity of vision, rapid response, and flexibility in order to accommodate the dynamic and rapidly changing world we live in.

Project TriStar has established several management committees that are responsible for the planning and development of the community. These committees are responsible for creating the community infrastructure and development plans, research and acquisition of products and services to support the development process, creation of purchase item lists, and implementation of the development plans.

Phase I includes the following:

  1. Acquisition of a planning facility which is large enough to support the living and working environment for all committee members involved in the planning and development efforts.
  2. Interview and selection of the core committee members
  3. Relocation of committee members to the planning and development facility.
  4. These members and/or their families embody the beliefs and lifestyle that are the foundation for the entire Project TriStar community project.
  5. The lifestyle at this facility is a communal environment with everyone living and working under the same roof.
  6. These members are assigned to various committees based on their interest and expertise in the planning and development process.
  7. The committees establish all plans and guidelines for the community including: a development plan; lists of items to be purchased; and are ultimately responsible for overseeing and implementing the construction and development phase.

Phase II: Planning

The planning and development phase is coordinated and managed by the Project TriStar committees. Each committee has defined areas of responsibility and expertise within the scope of the entire community project. The project management committee oversees all other committees to ensure the goals and scheduling of the project are met.

Each member of the planning committees is provided with the documentation contained within this website as a scope, guideline, and/or vision of the entire Project TriStar community.  This information includes: a conceptualization of the overall modular design and construction, conceptual drawings of the community infrastructure, architectural drawings of individual construction subsystems, preliminary calculations on the physical community and subsystems size in relationship to the number of community members, preliminary calculations on the construction element costs, and a preliminary planning and development budget.

The planning committees are responsible for shaping these development concepts into formal documents that facilitate the construction and operation of every subsystem of the community development.  This includes: a development plan; architectural and infrastructure drawings; engineering and structural calculations, lists of items to be purchased for consumption or storage for each community subsystem; hiring of contractors, vendors, and other necessary suppliers; and oversight and implementation of the construction development phase.

The planning phase of the Project TriStar community is being completed in accordance with the community Development Timeline.

Phase III: Development

This phase of the Project TriStar community involves implementation of the community development plans and construction of the physical on-site facilities.  During this phase, some committee members are responsible for contracting vendors and coordinating logistics while others continue with a variety of activities that are necessary to for the community operation, but unassociated with the actual construction.

Due to the modular design of the Project TriStar community, most of the physical subsystems and components used in the construction process are fabricated off-site by specialized subcontractors.  These subsystems are designed and manufactured concurrently, in modular sections, and then delivered, installed, and assembled at the community physical location. This manufacturing approach enables the continuous delivery of completed subsystem components to the construction site and, in turn, shortens the overall development and construction timetable.

During this phase of operations, Project TriStar will gradually involve more community members in the construction process as manpower needs dictate.  Development and construction of the Project TriStar community is not being projected at this time and will only be determined by the ongoing progress.
